Custom log furniture and Traditional Woodcraft

Made by hand with handtools, with an emphasis on locally sourced lumber, 95% from my property in Hubbardston Massachusetts and the rest from local independant sawmills.

Furniture made with classic joinery, rarely any hardware, constructed with the intention of lasting multiple generations of rugged use.

Happy to design and construct what you are envisioning to your specifications, down to concise drawings or a vague idea.  Also can replicate an existing design, but make it to last.  There are no shortcuts here in the process, when i drawbore a tennon, the peg is a hand-riven piece of dried white oak, hand shaved to proper diameter and driven with a mallet made from that same white oak tree, no dowels from the store.  When it becomes common place to assemble furniture with a tiny disposable allen wrench whose factory wood mush will join it in a landfill in a few years, it's a necessity to reconsider your options.

I always invite customers to visit my workshop and little log cabin to see what i've done and whatever i'm working on, as this stuff is always far more striking in person.  Heirloom quality with attention to detail, from whimsical mountain laurel wrapped logs to refined hand cut dovetails.
